Founded by Matt and Tedd Gullickson in 2023, Valley Winds strives to provide local musicians an opportunity to perform high-level music & connect with other musicians.
Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM, with 3-4 concerts throughout the year.

Tedd Gullickson
Originally from Moorhead, Minnesota, Gullickson earned a BA from Concordia College and an MA from the University of Minnesota, both degrees in Music Education. During the summers he performed with and was Assistant Director for the Walt Disney World All-American College Marching Band. Gullickson directed bands at Canby and Worthington, Minnesota, before being named Director of Bands at Mankato West High School. The West Concert Band and Jazz I performed at the Minnesota Music Convention and annually earned unanimous Superior Ratings at MSHSL contests. Gullickson directed three concert bands, three jazz bands, percussion ensemble, pit orchestra, pep band, numerous other ensembles, and gave sectionals and lessons before retiring from teaching in 2010—a career spanning 30 years. While in Mankato, Gullickson also directed the 77 Lancers Marching Band. During his 24-year leadership, the Lancers became recognized as one of the Midwest’s premier parade bands winning two state championships, numerous People’s Choice Awards, as well as several Grand Champion and caption awards. Gullickson’s bands traveled the country taking more than 40 out of state trips. Gullickson is co-director and drummer with Southern Minnesota’s Real Big Band along with his son, Matt. He is a member of the Medalist Concert Band and from 2012 to 2023, he was principal conductor of the City of Lakes Community Band. Tedd Gullickson has served as Vice President of the Minnesota Music Educators Association, President of the South-Central Minnesota Band Directors Association, and music representative for the Minnesota State High School League. Awards received include the State Music Teacher of the Year, Mankato Healthy Youth Award, and the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
